[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:360px; padding:5px; background-color:#333;] all my dead friends look a lot like you | [atrb=style, background-color:#eee; max-width:360px; ] Micqueot. The home of fine whence, and fresh fruit from wince they came was a rare place for Marines to be seen at. It was not like the men, and woman that protected the mass populace could drink on the job, or anything of the sort. Granted this would not stop that from coming to the island, or taking part in an adult beverage on their off-time. Nevertheless it was highly unusual to see a complete crew of Marines standing along the shores of Micqueot; four stood, rifles drawn spread out around a single man. In all honesty it was curious sight, the man in question sported aged grey hair while looking well on the frail side of things. Certainly not a threat for the Marines. Making the strange even stranger, their captive seeming to be wearing some form of clergy garb though with the addition of a strange top-hat, and a scarf draping from his shoulder.
The facts against this man being a thread to the four uneasy Marines standing guard around him was the fact that whoever this was, had been shackled. Not only shackled, but shackled, and chained to a collection of cannon balls; preventing him from budging an inch much less escaping. The False clergyman sat cross legged on the sandy shoreline, his gaze obscured by curls of hair, yet an air of relaxation seemed to emit from his figure. Despite being captured by Marines it'd seem like this man was a large degree calmer that his captors, as if he had not a single care in the world. I-Is this really the son of the Bizarre Sea Beast; Cactus Coyote? A shaky voice finally broke the silence, the one speaking obviously unnerved by rumors, and legends couldn't help but be scared of their cargo. Without skipping a beat, the shaky marine was hushed, and commanded to straighten up, to not allow his firearm to lower even the slightest bit from the captive's head.
If this man even tried to escape - not that it was possible -then he would find his head being blasted apart from all four sides without a second thought. Coyote E. Wile. The son of fierce pirate; Cactus Coyote, the Bizarre Sea Beast, and Former Vice-Warden of Impel Down; Eilis Wile. Dubbed "the Cheshire" due to his innate ability to seemingly disappear from capture with a smile plastered on his face, Coyote appeared to have been caught once more. Though for how long remained to be seen... Made infamous by numerous escaped from Impel Down. it was this thrown together crew of rowdy Marines that had the luck of finding the escape artist. While Coyote had the skill to escape most jails, and prisons, he did not have the lucky to elude capture. Usually only a few weeks after escaping, the pirate would be found once more.
And here we are... Having been found further along in the North Blue, it was not much of a task to capture the Impel Down escapee, and surprisingly he didn't put up much of a fight. No sooner than an hour or two after setting sail to throw him in the deepest level's of Impel Down did Coyote's ill-luck rub off on the Marines. For reasons unknown the ship stopped dead in the water, and refused to budge another inch. With a metaphorical push, and shove they made it to the shores of Micqueot where everyone was evacuated off the ship aside from the Commodore, and a select few who tried to repair it. "Oh my, who would have thought that the World Government would send such a large army of the world's finest Marines after little ole me." No reaction other than a raised brow would be given as their captive finally decided it was his turn to break the silence. In addition to being quite the escape artist, Coyote was known to drastically stretch the truth as was being seen hear. Saying this was an army of the World Government's finest Marines was beyond quite a stretch; this was not even a complete crew, and most were new recruits. Oh shut up, you damn fool. You're not even a blimp on the radar to the Government.
This voice came from within the broken down ship presumably from the Commodore who sat at the head of this rowdy, and inexperienced crew. His voice was overshadowed as a loud mechanical wail echoed forth from the bowel's of the ship causing a few to jump in surprise as clouds of smoke rose. "Dont you hear your own ship crying out in pain?!" All amusement, and whimsy was gone from the grey haired man's voice as he attempted to jump to his feet, but his restraints caused him to fall back down onto his rump. "Release me! Get this goddamn shackles off me, and let me fix it myself!' The truly bizarre thing was that he was completely serious. It didn't matter that they were shipping him back to Impel Down, to him it was like a afternoon drive home meaning he wouldn't bother escaping. Yet. In all honesty if he were released at that very moment, Coyote would spring to action to fix the ship, before siting his butt back down to be taken home. {b]Oh somebody shut him up![/b[ With the bark of their superior, the sole reply was the smack of the butt of a rifle striking along side Coyote's temple toppling him over.

[/u] 898 words • TAGS •[/u] Coyote E. Wile • NOTES •[/u] Let the fun, begin! [/div] Now to most this kind of thing would have been complete insanity. The Captain could not have wholeheartedly agreed and that was exactly why Rei had chose to do doing this alone, having left the rest of the crew at a much safer location to meet up with later. As she pulled the brim of the white hat down low and straightened her uniform a final time, she couldn't help feel like she was committing some kind sacrilegious abomination for a pirate. Why in the North Blue anyone in their right mind would wear white for a uniform was beyond her, but after having overheard the recent development in town, Rei knew that she would not get a second chance like this. It had to be an act of fate. However, to say that this wasn't about satisfying a little curiosity, not to mention raising some hell with the Marines would have been a lie.
Mind you that during the course of the pirate's travels, Rei had managed to collect some rather unique things. The uniform of a Marine Commander though, was by far one of the strangest things for a pirate to keep. Of course, considering she'd had stolen it from a drunken Marine that had almost recognized who she was, made it more of a trophy than something of value. At the very least, she would finally have a use for keeping it around all these months. Using the disguise, it wasn't hard to make her way onto the ship and assess the situation. After the target's location and depositing a few surprises for later, Rei made her way back down to shore. Just in time, it seemed as the ship let out a horrible groan. She wasn't much of an expert in ships, but even an idiot could tell that noise was not good.
Unfortunately, it seemed to cause something of a commotion from the pirate. Rei attempted to remain completely composed, but the sight of the Marine striking the chained man with the back of his rifle was more than she could stomach. "Enough!" The woman snapped firmly, immediately drawing attention up to the commanding figure. Rei might not have been very tall physically, but even with her normal long green hair tucked beneath a black wig with the Marine cap pressed down over what had been pulled down into a low hanging pony tail, it was hard to hide those striking red eyes from beneath the shadow of the hat brim. As she approached, her head was up and her shoulders back, exuding an aura that could have given any ranked Marine a true run for their money at the confidence and respect it seemed to demand.
"You were assigned to keep an eye on him while the ship is being repaired, not to give me more work by explaining to the superior why he needs medical attention." She added seriously, her toned obviously of annoyed. Stopping to glance down at Coyote, she let out a faint noise of disapproval, glancing up with a look that seemed to be expecting a salute. Then again, considering she was wearing a Commanders uniform, Rei momentarily outranked the men in front of her by some degree. "Speaking of superior, the Commodore ordered me to tell you two that we'll be rotating guard shifts at random intervals, since we'll be less likely to grow complacent that way. You two should go help with the ship repairs. Right now, they need all the hands that they get." Rei explained seriously, lifting a hand to motion to the two men in the back.
"I'll be here to help keep an eye on him in the meantime.... Though to be honest, the sooner we get off this island, the less chance we have to worry about someone giving us the slip." The young woman added, moving over to snatch the prisoner up by the back of his robe and drop him back into his seat. "And you... Stop making such a ruckus. It's annoying! Do you think the Marines are so incapable that they can't fix something they built? Get real!... You should be more worried about yourself right now." Rei spoke in a cold tone, though no one could ever say the Captain wasn't quite the talented little actress. She certainly had the arrogance down, but this was about more than keeping Coyote quiet. No, this was about evening the odds in their favor and to do that, Rei would play on the one thing the Marines believed to be their strength - order and discipline in their ranks.
Glancing over at the two from before she quickly motioned for them to go, rolling the rifle off her shoulder. "Oi! What are you standing around for? You heard the Commodore's orders, get going." She motioned seriously, settling into a seat behind Coyote and waiting for the moment to strike. "Jeez, your a lot of trouble." Rei commented in a manner that sounded annoyed, but was meant to initiate conversation. As difficult as waiting was, she needed to be patient and buy some time. If she made her move to early, then they were both going to be sharing a cell in the lowest part of the Impel Down. Even so, she would only get one shot and while Rei was many things, she couldn't ignore or forgive the Marine's actions... not this time.

Already had his obscured. and eccentric mind forgotten about the pain consuming the right half of his face as a new soul entered into the fry. As odd as... Well as odd as Coyote was, his thoughts seemed to only be able to focus on the pitch black locks that sat atop the Commander's head. In his own opinion it looked as if someone had crushed possibly the biggest, fattest rat in existence into a pancake before slapping it on the woman's head. The sheer hideousness of it all just had Coyote so completely awe-struck that the man didn't even notice a few of his guards stomping off, or the woman plucking him up and setting him on his bum. You could equate this to someone seeing a car accident; you didn't want to look at it but something about how caused you to not be able to look away, but become fixated on it.
"I dont mean to alarm you but you have a dead animal on your head" For the longest time the captive had remained silent, but now he had snapped back to reality; wiggling backwards closer to Rei, he lifted his hands and jingled the shackles."I'll whomp it for you if you take these off" Though he tried his hardest to keep his veiled eyes on Rei's face, but the man was so fascinated by the sheer ugliness of her hair that he couldn't keep his eyes off it. Such an odd fellow. It truly was something else that the Marines were putting so much effort to capture this man, well not only this but, seemed to be so on edge around him. He wasn't strong. He wasn't frightening... Well maybe a tad on the creepy side, but so far Coyote didn't seem to be any worse than your average pirate. Perhaps it was the fact that he had escaped from the inescapable, not just once but multiple times. Maybe, now just maybe, it was believed -mistakenly- that a certain degree of strength beyond human level was needed to escape from Impel Down.
It that was true that Coyote would have never seen even the tiniest shred of sunlight in his entire life. Honestly you could poke the man with a stick, and he'd be crying in agony for hours so strength had nothing to do with his escape tactics. Even now pain still rattle his jaw from the butt of the rifle with his face now beginning to puff with quite bit of swelling. A sudden groan from the ship complete with an expansion of smoke billowing out of it cause the bizarre man to snap. "WHY DON'T YOU JUST SHOOT IT AND PUT IT OUT OF ITS MISERY INSTEAD OF TORTURING IT TO DEATH!. This. This was the strangest thing about the man as he was showing general concern for the ship, and the shabby repair job they were doing. Hell the strangest of all was how Coyote was treating it as if were a living breathing creature instead of the beast of steel, and wood that it was. God, if only he werent shackled... Then he'd... Then he'd get up, and show these blasted Marines a thing, or two about fixing a ship, and then sit down to wait for the trip home. Hopefully they'd get back to Impel down before din-din.

[/u] 546 words • TAGS •[/u] Coyote E. Wile • NOTES •[/u] Bleh, my muse. >P [/div] Now Rei would be the first to admit that while the Marine suit was authentic, the wig was little more than some cheap costume addition, but she wasn't about to drop money on something that was made of real hair. Besides, she had no intention of doing this often, so a one time job required only something that was passable. Obviously, however, Rei hadn't expected Coyote to point out that it was a fake right off the bat. It had fooled the Marines, surely it couldn't look that bad. Even so, his guards seemed content to assume that he was just being a smart ass, as she settled in behind him and he managed to wiggle his way backwards a bit, so that she could see him.
At his next question though, Rei glanced up, though the expression was not one of anger. Rather, it was a forced smile, one that seemed torn between faint annoyance and hiding the urge to start laughing as she shook her head. "Hush!" She hissed back at him. Her gaze soon returned to the guards in front of them as another deep groan managed to echo up from the ship and smoke poured to the surface. Rei watched as the Marine's gaze snapped around, preparing to move, but not before Coyote stood up and yelled at the Marines as though they were dealing with a wounded animal and not a ship. "Oi! Pipe down." Rei warned quietly, rising to catch him by the shoulder. The last thing, she wanted was for the Marines to whop him again just for good measure.
However, Rei hadn't sat down before the familiar sound of an explosion echoed from the deck of the ship. No, explosions was the right word. This was closer to the crack and popping of fire crackers that caused more smoke to mingle and pour out of every nook and cranny there was as the deck became shrouded in the fog. Without warning, Rei snapped the back of the rifle around to strike the barrel of the guards, sending them skyward. The stunned reaction at their own turning against them was all Rei needed to drop the nodachi from the strap, catching it in her left hand and releasing the rifle, allowing her right hand to drop back to the sword's hilt. A quick sweeping flash as the blade was drawn and the cries of pain were all it took to render the guards useless, collapsed on the ground as Rei turned back towards Coyote.
"I'm not much of a locksmith, so don't move." She ordered seriously, turning and with a brief slash severed the chains that had been wrapped around him and bound him to the over-sized weights. Without hesitation, the pirate reached over to grab him by the hand and hopefully, oblige him to follow her, so that she didn't have to drag him to the nearest cover. "Come on, before the smoke clears us and they notice what's happened." The Captain explained, pulling off the Marine cap and wig off with her free hand along the way to allow the more familiar curtain of green hair to fall over down over her shoulders. Besides, that wig was getting itchy anyway and there was no point hiding who she was anymore.

What only could be described as the girliest scream a man could possibly muster came forth from Coyote as this woman effortlessly took out the remaining guards and turned towards him. It wasn't until this moment that he had notice her bright red eyes, these gleaming spheres along with the blade she had yet to sheath gave her the most intimidating appearances. The coward which was this escapist reared back as she set her sights on him with the only thought in his mind being that he was the next to to get whooped. Again.. "Oh noes,a beautiful yet menacing demon spawn that lured, and slaughtered a many lustful men, has come to take my life, and soul.." Okay so maybe calling her a demon spawn was taking it a bit too far, but then again in this light, in that angle, with those eyes, Rei did look like a little demoness who had just climbed forth from the underworld. He flinched, and cowered, waiting for whatever demise that was coming to simply happen, and end his mortal life.
But that never came. Instead metal jingled, and clattered to the ground as his shackles broke apart, and littered the ground around him in a semi-circle."... I think I may have wet myself." A sheepish grin painted itself on his face as he looked up at the young woman thought almost shrieking again as she threw the dead rat of a wig at him. Okay so maybe she didn't throw it at him, but as soon as it touched they ground Coyote could have sworn it was bout to charge at him. Okay, so it didn't. Leaving the question if he really did wet himself to the imagine of others, Coyote allowed himself to be pulled along his body rag-dolling behind Rei while completely unsure exactly why this woman had just rescued him. Seriously you didn't just have some random strange save you from the clutches of the marines every day. Well... Usually Coyote didn't need such a thing to happen as he'd just escape himself later on. Regardless it was still a rare occurrence, and Coyote was left completely dumbfounded as to this woman's reasoning.
A sudden boom, and increase of smoke caught Coyote's eyes as he flailed behind the woman just barely being able to keep up with her pace. That didn't matter as the man came to a sudden halt; his body locking up, and becoming as still, and resistant as a stone with his gaze still locked onto the Marine vessel behind them. "You....! Are you the one who caused the ship to be screaming out in pain?!" Oddly the grip was a lot stronger than the frightened child of a man who had claimed to wet himself mere seconds ago, nothing Rei couldn't overcome, but still it was definitely stronger than before. Speaks of emerald glared at the woman, as he finally turned towards her no longer the exaggerator, nor the storytelling coward, but a man burning with the bastard child of fury and passion. A sudden cry of 'Where did he go?!' caused that to change in an instant, with Coyote now taking the lead with his hand clasped iron tight to her own."I forgive you for now! If you can get me out of here, I can give you the best ship that has ever set sail. A behemoth of a vessel that can out do any other ship around!"
Well if Coyote could manage to stop talking for one moment, and focus on running rather than allowing Rei to drag him around then they may escape. Common sense dictated that if she was going to go through all this trouble of freeing him, then the woman wasn't about to just ditch him, and save her own ass. There had to be something she hoped to gain from freeing him after all. Then again it didn't hurt to offer some sort of incentive that'd hopefully strengthen her resolve to save him.

[/u] 626 words • TAGS •[/u] Coyote E. Wile • NOTES •[/u] None [/div] Normally, Rei might have questioned the ignorance of someone calling her a demon spawn, but this was probably not the first anyone had called her such a thing and probably wouldn't be the last. In any case, she was a little more concerned with the idea of escaping at the moment to wonder if he was exaggerating about wetting himself or not. Not that this would have been a first time for that either, but that was beside the point. Snatching a hold of his wrist, Rei proceeded to drag the poor former prisoner along as they made a bee-line for the trees.
No sooner had they reached the shadow of the small forest, however, then Rei felt the sharp tug in resistance that caused her gaze to snatch around in surprise. What the devil was he doing? Why would anyone in their right mind stop when the Marines were behind them and probably going to realize that he was gone soon. Rei was about to turn around and chew him out, but didn't expect to be greeted by the greenest eyes that she had ever seen in her life. Strangely, he seemed rather peeved off about something and his mention of the ship earned a faint look of confusion from the pirate.
Okay, so maybe fireworks had not been the best option, but she'd needed a distraction and couldn't quite wrap her head around a ship outweighing the lives of people. The gloves came off and that was especially true when your enemy was the Marines and would probably hang you for helping an escaped prisoner. "Oi! This isn't the time for that. I told you, we need to worry about your safety first." Rei shot back seriously, just in time to overhear the sudden shout in realization that he was gone. Cursing under her breath, Rei flinched suddenly as his hand tightened on her own.
It was then that he spoke, promising something that Rei hadn't been expecting to hear. A ship? Not just any ship mind you. If Coyote's words were to be believed, it was a ship that would be able to outclass any vessel around, Pirate or Marine. "Alright." Rei answered seriously, turning to get him to follow deeper into the forest. Provided her memory served, these woods ran into vineyards and into town where they would have an easier time hiding until they could snag a boat and meet up with the crew.
"Unfortunately, I don't know much about maintaining a ship, so you'll have to come with me to help me to take care of her, deal?" The Captain called back, as she pressed her way through some bushes and attempted to keep a steady pace. She had little doubt that the Marines would be out in numbers when they realized that she had snatched the prisoner they had worked so hard to catch. "The name's Rei, by the way. Rei Kirisaki." She added simply, figuring it would be better to know who he was talking to, rather than just having some strange young woman dragging him around.
Not that Rei needed an introduction for him, considering Coyote's reputation tended to proceed him. Anyone that had ever called themselves a pirate knew the story, because it was something that happened so rarely. Coyote E. Wile. The only man to ever escape Impel Down not once, but multiple times. A man, who despite his imprisonment had only ever committed two crimes; being born and seeking out freedom. There was no finer living example of a pirate's cause and purpose than the man whose hand now clung to her own, making ensuring his freedom and mission success all the more important, if only to spite the Marines and the World Government for their twisted laws.

To those who actually knew him, which sadly was limited to the guards of Impel Down, this revelation would be the most frightening they'd ever come across. The truth, and Coyote did not have the best relationship around, as the man was not at all to hesitant to stretch it. Regardless the ship that the grey haired man spoke of did exist, and while it was indeed his pride, and joy he spoke realistically about how it was the best ship around. Having spent all of his life being hauled back off to Impel Down in a wide variety of ships, Coyote never saw a ship that awed him as much as the one he promised to Rei.
Carpe Noctem. The beastly behemoth of a ship that the pirate; Cactus Coyote made himself famous on sailing was a marvel of creation that anyone who saw it couldn't help but to freeze in wonder, and astonishment. Against all odds the ship was actually in port relatively nearly by, granted it wasn't nearly as close that'd be helpful to the two, but it still was waiting close enough. To ensure that the ship would never be found, and taken from him, Coyote usually sailed to random island, and then would desert the ship to do most of his sailing on a dinghy. While he did live on the ship while he wasn't imprisoned, Coyote usually sailed on on the dinghy to gather provisions, and get his land legs in a sense for a few days before turning to his ship. Currently the Carpe Noctem was sitting in wait on a deserted neighboring island of this vast wine country. "Pffft.. Of course you're not just taking my ship away from me. Its a package deal, if you really enjoy making ships scream in agony then I'm gonna need to be there to nurse Carpe Noctem to health."
Oh, yes. There was no way in hell that Coyote was gonna forgive her any time soon for what she did to that ship no matter if it was a Marine vessel, or not. More importantly though the name of the ship should have grabbed her attention. If there was anything more noteworthy than Coyote's own ability to escape that would be his father's legacy of pirating. Unlike others who sailed for freedom, and a dream, Cactus was a horrible man who plundered, and raped as much as he pleased. A skypiean being exiled from his homeland, Cactus developed the idea that the world owed him everything he was denied, and he was free to take it however he wished. Aside from his savage methods, the man was also known for his unspeakable good luck that allowed him to commit unspeakable actions without being caught.. Well for a while at least. While other pirates strove to become the King of the Pirates, this man had one upped them, and had become the Devil of the Seven Seas.
"You have such soft hands, I've always wondered what it'd feel like to have a young woman desire to hold my hand in such a loving embrace like this." There were just so many things wrong with what Coyote said that no one would know where to begin at correcting him. They weren't a fawning couple who would holding hands lovingly as they hiked through the woods as he hinted at, but one pirate leading the other as they made a mad dash to escape the Marines. As if to make things even more awkward his grip seemed to tighten as if to further insist on the ever so wrong impression that he had spoke of. Perhaps the only thing that wasn't a lie, or delusion, was that to the former prisoner the young woman did have soft hands which were enjoyable to hold on to as they made their escape. "Now if only we were handcuffed together to make our embrace more intimate." Coyote should really just stop talking before Rei changed her mind.

[/u] 539 words • TAGS •[/u] Coyote E. Wile • NOTES •[/u] Aww, Rei's embarrassed XD [/div] Rei flinched lightly unable to believe that he was still hung up on the matter of the ship, but glad to know that he would be coming with them. While she was pretty adept at taking things apart, repairs were a department in which the Captain was rather lacking, to put it mildly. "With all due respect, I hardly think a few well placed fireworks and some smoke bombs rigged to blow when crossed could do much damage to warship. Whatever the Marines did to that ship, I had nothing to do with it. If you've got complaints, I suggest saving them for someone who-" She began to explain seriously, though hesitated as recognition for the ship's name seemed to set in. Wait, there was no way it could be-?
"Wait, did you just say Carpe Noctem?" Rei repeated in a confused manner. "The Carpe Noctem? The one from the stories?" She knew of the ship from the stories, but... There was no way the vessel was still around. It had been decades since his father had been put to death, even if Coyote knew where to find the remains, it seemed strange to assume that a ship that had been left alone for that length of time would have been incapable of sailing.... Wouldn't it? Still, Coyote had no reason to lie about such a thing, certainly not when she would have taken him with her anyway. Even so, considering it's reputation, if it was still useful, it could very well be one of the few ships around that was believed capable of sailing the Grand Line.
The Captain was still walking when Coyote spoke up once more, though this time with something she had not expected to hear. Her gaze immediately snapped up to the man in disbelief, attempting to fight back the obvious flush on her face. "I-Idiot! Don't say stuff like that. I just... I didn't want you to fall behind, because it'd be a pain after I went to the trouble of finding and breaking you out." Rei corrected in annoyance, attempting to pry her hand free from his as she cleared her throat, revealing a side to the accused demon that seemed so very human as the pirate turned back towards the trail. Then again, the number of people capable of flustering the normally level-headed captain could be counted on one hand, but it seemed Coyote could now count himself among these individuals.
His additional statement did not help matters. "Just keep up!" She snapped, allowing the back of her hand holding the sheathed sword to rest against her forehead in disbelief. What in the Grand Line had she managed to get herself into with this one? Sure, pirates weren't the most normal individuals running around, but this one... Then again, perhaps she should have factored in the side effects from having spent one's entire life in the world's most secure prison environment, surrounded by criminals. Still,... Did Coyote have to refer to her hands in such a feminine manner? Not that Rei ever thought of herself as anything more than a swordsman and a pirate, so the concept that anyone would want to hold her hand for such a purpose was still a little shocking.

This was the only thing that was spoken as despite Rei's attempts, their hands remained together; fingers now intertwined, and palms pressed together as she tried to pry her hand free. For someone so physically weak he sure as hell had a death grip on her. Even so, Coyote had a bit of a point no matter how small it was. After all the effort she had put into helping him escape, the thing she'd want less than him falling behind was if he fell behind, and got lost. In all honesty, it actually was nice to see another person, well nice to see a woman after so long when Coyote was either stuck in an overcrowded cell with men, or alone on Carpe Noctem.
As they marched through the forest towards the , Coyote did something rare... He actually managed to keep his mouth shut a bit. He was eccentric, he wasn't stupid. The man had noticed the bit of a blush on her face despite her efforts to hide after his mentioning of the softness of her hands. Even after her confusion about the ship, and how her voice seemed to hold some portion of disbelief, Coyote remained quite simply marching along behind her. He was dumbfounded. Why was it so hard to believe that his ship was still around? While he wasn't quite she what she meant by the stories, it didn't matter much, and the only thing that mattered to him was that the ship actually was still around. "Why would I lie!?" It was funny how such a man that was use to exaggerating the truth seemed to take it as so offensive that someone didn't believe him when he told the truth. "I've only been escaping so I can keep Carpe alive, without me she'd be sleeping with the fishes by now."
Now that pretty much was true. His first escape attempt was merely to see the outside world that all of the other prisoners complained about never being able to see again. To the younger Coyote it was unfair that they had seen this magical world where as he had only seem damp darkness, and iron bars. Needless to say his first time seeing the vast blue sea, and the wild skies were simply breathtaking. His later escapes were to return to the ship; Carpe Noctem, the woman he had fallen in love with to repair her seeing as the ship was in complete disrepair when they first met. It certainly took a while but after quite a few years Coyote almost had the ship in near perfect condition. At the given time while she could sail, and both fight, and take a beating, the Carpe Noctem wasn't in pristine condition, but it was close, and getting there. Regardless it had been enough for Coyote to live, and sail on as the man had never thought of taking it out of the four blues, nor using it to attack anyone.
"This is taking too long, I want to hurry, and get home..." The voice suddenly cut through the silence as Coyote pace suddenly picked up, and their hands finally seperated. With a quick breath, Coyote moved to grasp his new found Captain, and scoop her into his arms before breaking into a run. All the talk, and thoughts about Carpe Noctem had made him homesick, and he believed this method would allow them to get to his ship a bit faster than just holding hands, and marching through the woods. Growing up in Impel Down, Coyote had no sense of personal space seeing as the jail cells were mostly over crowded so chances are he had no idea how embarrassing this could possible be for the woman. All he cared about was getting home to tell the truth.

[/u] 655 words • TAGS •[/u] Coyote E. Wile • NOTES •[/u] And the embarrassment continues, lol. [/div] As Rei soon discovered, any attempt to reclaim her hand proved pointless and the Captain was soon forced to let out a faint sigh in defeat as Coyote admitted to some concern about getting lost. She couldn't be certain if it was his utter disregard for boundaries or the overly long bangs, something that most would have found a little creepy, couldn't help remind Rei of a puppy. Jeez! Why did she have to have such a soft spot for her crew? This would have been so much simpler to be a heartless, conniving bastard, but she didn't even have the nerve to ignore him, so instead allowed him to follow along behind her.
Although, the woods were proving far more dense that she had anticipated, keeping their pace at something of a brisk walk as Coyote continued behind her. "I'm not saying you did. It's just kind of surprising, is all. I mean, I grew up near a port town, so I've seen what sea water can do to boats that are left alone for a while." Rei confessed in slightly amazement, though it was one of the few times she'd ever bothered to mention her past to anyone. Even so, the Captain wasn't a fool and has a basic knowledge of the effects on wood, iron, and steel, when exposed to the elements.
His mention of being the one responsible for keeping the Carpe Noctem afloat and fixing her though, earned him something of a look. The repeated escapes... He could have gone anywhere, done anything, and that was what he'd chosen to do? Such actions spoke volumes about the man, but the whole idea seemed to bring a faint smile to her face. "You're just full of surprises, aren't you?" She questioned contently, unaware of how anxious the shipwright was getting until he suddenly released her hand for a brief moment. At first, Rei assumed that she was free and Coyote was following along.... Right up until he did something that pirate had never calculated on.
In the next moment, Rei felt his arm around her and the sensation of being scooped up bridal style before he seemed to pick up the pace. Shock... Horror... Those were really the only words that could describe that emotions that rattled around in the Captain's brain as the shipwright began to pick up the pace. "W-w-what are you doing?!" Rei tried not to screech, but in such a position she couldn't do much more than hang on, clinging to Coyote and her nodachi in utter disbelief at what was happening. "Put me down!" The pirate ordered in a hiss or rather attempted to, though it wasn't the most intimidating considering her current position.
"You don't even know the way to town, do you?" She questioned in concern, ducking into his chest to avoid being smacked with any branches or limbs that he was bound to run into at such a pace. "Hey, hey! Come on, you have to stick to the plan. We need to get to the docks in town and get a boat, so we can go find your ship. I can contact my crew to meet up with us then, but you don't have to carry me." Rei continued to protest, unable to hide the flustered expression on her face as she tried to reason with Coyote.
Although, in truth, the pirate was less concerned about being found by the Marines than she was with the present problem of not liking to be picked up, certainly not without her permission. Then again, most people avoided even bumping into pirates. No one in their right mind would have scooped her up in such a manner, though it was becoming more obvious that Coyote clearly did not understand the concept of personal space. Oh god, what had she done to deserve this?... Well, besides the becoming a pirate and breaking a known criminal out of prison part, that is.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:360px; padding:5px; background-color:#333;] all my dead friends look a lot like you | [atrb=style, background-color:#eee; max-width:360px; ] This hadn't been entirely thought out... The whole action of picking her up bridal style wasn't something that had been given a whole lot of thought, and this was starting to dawn on Coyote's body. His new found captain wasn't all that much taller than him; judging by looks alone it seemed that she was probably about four inches shorter than he was. Not only this but it'd seem like they were a close match in the weight department which'd prove problematic with Coyote's shortcomings in mind. Given that he wasn't the strongest, or most physically fit individual it was a bit of a strain on his body, but he endured it. The need to be home vastly out-weighted the needed to set her back down, and seemed to help the former prisoner to continue carrying Rei despite her many protests.
Against the odds, it was the words of the young woman that seemed to give him the will, and a bit of a speed to carry on towards the town ahead. "I did good?!" The amazement, and bit about being full of surprises to Coyote sounded as some form of a compliment; something he had never received before. Her words resulted in being pulled closer to his chest, and his pace to ever so largely increase as if Rei had sparked something in him. As they bound through the forest given how close the woman was if she were to look up she'd see something many did not get a glimpse at.... Coyote's face. Such a thing was constantly hidden by his long, wild bangs but in her position she could see past them to see that surprisingly this man could be considered moderately good looking. Yet of his features the eyes were mostly drawn to the scar that was only partially visible normally.
The semi-faded wound traveled across his right check, up along the bridge of his nose, and over his left eye only to disappear into his hairline. Following this, the second thing that'd draw in a person's gaze were his eyes; shaded such a bright hue of green it was hard not to stare at them. It honestly looked like someone had stolen a pair of emeralds, and struck them into his face to give the prisoner eyes. "Yes, yes I know the way!" Of course he knew the way, Micqueot had been one of the island he had visited before, and was actually the neighboring island to where Carpe Noctem was waiting. Its faster this way. His only response aside from this was to simply hold her closer, and tighter as if it were his own way of saying she had no choice or say in this. Being a soul who never really had to listen to the orders of others it'd take a bit of time for him to understand the pirate hierarchy. Mostly that Rei was the Captain, and that the Captain's orders were absolute.
As if to hint at the truth of his words, up a head the forest began to give way, and break into a rather large, and lush vineyard that near completely surrounded a town except for where it broke away into the ocean. Panting slightly, Coyote skidded to a stop to both catch his breath momentarily, and to stare out at the marvel that was what some would say was a beautiful, and quaint little town. "Told ya, I knew the way."

[/u] 449 words • TAGS •[/u] Coyote E. Wile • NOTES •[/u] So much embarrassment, so little time. [/div] To call Rei uncomfortable at the moment would have been the understatement of the century. In all her years as a pirate, this was by far one of the most humiliating and awkward situations that she had ever found herself in... and that was saying something. Even so, there was no one witness this little fiasco thankfully and Rei contented herself with the knowledge that once this was over, she would be able to school Coyote into the proper etiquette between crew members and their Captain. Then again, maybe she should have expected such, despite her obvious miscalculations.
It was Coyote's words that caused her finally glance up from his chest, where she'd buried her face, partly to hide the obvious blush. Unfortunately, no sooner had the Captain lifted her gaze, then her eyes went a bit wider in surprise at what she was seeing. Rei hadn't noticed it at first, mainly because of all the long bangs, but beneath that mess of hair Coyote was... absolutely gorgeous. Those soft masculine features, those strike green eyes that seemed to pierce through her chest, the faded scar that seemed to steal nothing, adding only another level of mystery to contrast of his silvery hair against his fair skin.
The faint blush that had been on her face seemed to darken almost immediately to the point where even her poor ears were stained red. She tried to listen to what Coyote said next, something about knowing the way, but to be honest, it was hard to hear much with her heart pounding in her ears. Rei tried her hardest to push the matter out of her mind, but it was moments like this that an active imagination proved to be her own undoing. If being carried around by someone was bad, being carried around by a man that looked like 'that' was worse than those cheesy romance novel covers.
...Which whenever the crew happened to notice and ask about, the Captain didn't actually read, but for some mysterious reason still kept them stashed under her bed...
As the forest finally seemed to thin out, Coyote skidded to a halt on a small hill overlooking what was probably one of the most beautiful places on the island. "So it seems... But yeah, you did real good, Coyote." Rei spoke in surprise, somewhat awe struck by the view, before remembering her position. "Coyote... You can put me down now." She added calmly, though the words sounded like a mix between an order and some plea for sanity. Then again, this was way more intimate than Rei was used to being with... anyone, including her own crew, so simply wanted back on her own two feet again.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:360px; padding:5px; background-color:#333;] all my dead friends look a lot like you | [atrb=style, background-color:#eee; max-width:360px; ] That grin... The grin that spread across his lips was nothing like what anyone had ever seen before; large, and gleaming, it was no wonder why this man was known as the Cheshire. Truly, Coyote was just like a common household dog whom showed exaggered enjoyment when complimented as was the case here. Being both a prisoner, and a man on the run, Coyote never received much praise, or any form of compliment so now in the rare occurrence that he can do nothing more but flash this large toothy smile. With nothing but a nod, he allowed her to stand on her own feet now satisfied that there was enough distance between the Marines, and them. Perhaps now they could begin to relax a little?
Though perhaps to Coyote it didn't matter much as either way; caught, or not he would still be returning to a 'home'. Regardless, if the man had to choose than he would much rather return to the home which was the behemoth of a ship that awaited his return on the coast of the neighboring island. Now then.... While she had been released from his grip she still was no released from Coyote himself. A pleased sigh escaped his lips as an arm raised to drape around her shoulders, and his head tilted to lean against hers. Truly he had no sense of personal space. " Breathtaking view, isn't it?". Honestly any view to Coyote was breathtaking, as it would be with any person who had spent a majority of their life locked up. The very first time that Coyote had managed to escape Impel Down, he had been so awe-struck by the view of the outside world that he had been frozen in place resulting in a swift capture by the Marines.
All of the sudden he perked up, and froze in a manner, as if someone had just called out to him, and he were intently focusing on their every word. A soft growl was released, as his features twisted from a grin to the darkest of scowls, without a thought he darted forwards towards the town. For the moment it seemed as if Rei's existence was completely erased from his mind; one moment happily standing next to her, and then dashing through the vineyard in a mad rage. Apparently he was made aware of something, that she had not despite the silence that had lingered in the mouth of the forest. Whatever had just happened, had irritated Coyote so much that he no longer cared about the fate of the one who helped him escape, nor being seen by the Marines. Humorously the former inmate tripped, and began rolling down the vineyard; luckily the little accident allowing him to go faster than running.
